BURLESQUE
The historical art of
anticipation,
seduction
and tease
Burlesque is the mother of striptease it can be a political statement, comedic, a satirical commentary, sexually suggestive or not so suggestive! Burlesque is performed by men, women and people all around the world: from New York to Singapore and New Zealand.
In this TEDx Pipitea talk Crystal Mischief a burlesque teacher, performer and event manager breaks down the key signature movements of burlesque and how they can contribute to healing.
We look at the biology of the human body and how these movements can change the physical state of the body to create a different meaning to information and response.
We look at the neurotransmitters and hormones that are created in the brain and body that creates a state change from stressed to calm and coherent.
We look at how these movements when used repeatedly can anchor in a calm and coherent state that is stress free.
We look at how a calm coherent state allows you to identify opportunities and capitalise on them.
Crystal Mischief is an international award winning performer and teacher. Pre-covid she split her time between New Zealand, USA and Australia.
She has been dancing since the age of 9 when she entered her first competition. Burlesque helped her through a dark time in her life in 2010.
Since then she has gone from managing events to performing and teaching internationally.
Now she combines burlesque with healing modalities to create rapid and transformational change.
"I adore seeing students walk into the Academy for the first time with hesitancy and feeling unsure. Then watching them start to grow or uncover the first petals of confidence. It's common for me to get a phone call from them 6 months later saying: I got that $10,000 pay rise, or I brought that house, or I am seeing someone.
They all attribute that change to their increased confidence" - Crystal Mischief
I am a NLP Master Practitioner and an Access Consciousness Bars Practitioner. I am studying neuroscience to understand how to leverage brain process for change.
I have also studied with multiple international award winning American and Australian burlesque performers.
